EQUALIZATION – Simon, start taking notes »
Simon B asked me in the comments section to write about the equalization stuff, so here it is. Hope it helps someone out there. The mouthfill thing only just clicked for me properly this comp. It's not so much about doing the mouth fill as apposed to keeping it and being able to use it. The best way to describe what I found I was doing and [...]
Thats right, I said it! »
OK, so most of you know that I am sponsored by Blueseventy. Its not like I have been keeping it a secret or anything. What you may not know though is that I have been working with them to build a wetsuit that is specifically for freediving. While we maybe a small market (compared to Triathlon or swimming) they (Blueseventy) like what we do, how we [...]
Side trip – Aarhus »
Last weekend saw Pernille and I head up to Aarhus to catch up with Stig Åvall Severinsen as it was one of the first weekends he has had free in a very long time at home. Close to 1 year ago, Stig promised that we would go out for a beer and catch up. Since he was too busy with the world champs and I was trying to keep away from beer, we [...]
Sponsors and Sunsets »
Well, the comp is only days away and its such a busy place now. I tell you, I miss the days of just William and I having the place to ourselves, where we could sit on the platform discussing how much more superior Blueseventy wetsuits and gear are over the brand he seems to be fixated on, I think its beluga-whale branding or something [...]
People Everywhere »
Well, its really starting to get busy now. A whole lot of people arrived over the weekend and the atmosphere has gone from, "like you know" to, "what's he/she diving to" and all this spying on competitors. Classic scenarios, were people are trying to see others depth gauges after the dive, checking where the ropes are set, listening for [...]
Freediving Bahama’s style »
So.. here I was today, do the beach with my homies, east side, yeah.. chilling and shit.. ya know. We rocked up to the hole and decided that as a collective group we would own the hole today. Yeah, thats right. We rocked the place today. Yeeeaaahhhh... Get down Todays dramas entailed with a different diver suffering a complaint of [...]
Where did that come from? »
Yesterday I did not write up a blog entry, as it was a day of testing. Jana has very kindly loaned me her monofin and I thought I should do a dive to test that out. It fitted great and felt nice. I did a nice dive to 71m, only stopping because I lost my mouthfill, but as it was not a serious dive, I was not concerned about it. On the way up, in [...]
Job Done??? Huh? »
I mentioned in an earlier blog entry that my goal for CNF was going to be 65m, well, to simply put it, job done. I am totally surprised at how the no fins diving has gone. I really really wanted to go deeper in CWT, but with the fin issues, I have been forced into CNF and actually begun to enjoy it. Its more of a challenge than I expected [...]
Simon Says »
I was not going to write an entry today as it was my off day, but I opened face book a few mins ago and see this comment on my status "Simon Bennett get to work on that blog young man" so I guess I must. Lets play a little "Simon Says". Today was a nice day with the Blue Hole finally looking blue and inviting. Shame I was not diving huh? [...]
Encouragement and Momentum »
Unvoiced thoughts. The two words above are so important in a freedivers carreer. It constantly astounds me how supportive freedivers are in general. Maybe its because we all understand how hard it is to do what we do, no matter the depth / distance, maybe its just that the bulk of the people that are attracted to this sport share a special bond [...]
